The Steering Committee of Bird Strike Committee-USA presented James Forbes Lifetime Achievement Awards to Gene and Ed for their significant and sustained contributions to the mitigation of wildlife hazards to aviation.  Gene was the Staff Biologist for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Office of Airport Safety and Standards from 1989 to 1995.  He then moved to the U.S. Air Force (USAF) BASH program where he now serves as Chief.  Ed replaced Gene as the FAA Staff Biologist in 1995 and has served in that position ever since.  Under the leadership of these two professionals, research and operational programs and resulting policy initiatives have resulted in major advances worldwide to mitigate wildlife hazards to aviation.
